FAQ

Dr.Wheatgrass FAQ's

Can You Take Too Much Wheatgrass?

Some people may develop mild diarrhea if they drink too much wheatgrass juice or Supershots. It is best to keep to the recommended dosage, although in times of illness, this can be doubled if required.

Does it deliver the same health benefits as fresh wheatgrass juice?

Yes, but for different reasons that have already been mentioned above. We believe the most important component in wheatgrass is the ‘Grass Juice Factor’. This molecule, or group of molecules, appears to have the power to significantly boost the body’s immunity and to stimulate production of growth factors essential for healing and good health.

We also know that our extract contains more than three times the amount of antioxidants than an equivalent amount of freshly juiced wheatgrass.

Doesn’t wheatgrass have to be consumed fresh in order to maximize the nutritional benefits?

No, not at all.

Most marketing information attributes the health-giving properties of wheatgrass juice to its nutritional content and to chlorophyll. However, without understating the nutritional benefits, our view is completely different.

Dr. Chris Reynolds discovered that chlorophyll has little or no biological activity in humans. Most likely the ‘Grass Juice Factor’, which is known to be a potent growth and fertility factor, appears to activate growth factors that affect all cells in the body. This results in improved immunity and natural healing rates. This ‘Grass Juice Factor’ is vital and durable, which is why Dr Wheatgrass Supershots can last two years and longer.

How does Dr.Wheatgrass Supershots differ from fresh wheatgrass juice?

The main differences are twofold. The wheatgrass extract we use contains very high levels of antioxidants that are essential to protecting the body from abnormal cell development (anti-cancer) and in renewing and replacing damaged cells.

Secondly, the long shelf life of at least two years up to temperatures of 40 degrees centigrade means the Supershots can be kept at room temperature and can be taken anywhere, anytime. Fresh wheatgrass juice only lasts a few days under refrigerated conditions.

It is worth noting that chlorophyll can not be preserved and is too expensive to manufacture for commercial use. Because scientific research has shown that chlorophyll has virtually no biological function in the human body, chlorophyll is not found in Dr Wheatgrass Supershots. We rely on the presence of bioactives obtained from wheatgrass juice that appear to stimulate production of human growth factors to help you attain and maintain good health and well-being.

How is the wheatgrass extract derived?

The extract is derived from freshly cut, organically grown wheatgrass sprouts by a secret process, under strictly controlled conditions. This process ‘stabilizes’ the extract, which guarantees a long (at least two years) shelf life.

I have an allergy to wheat, is wheatgrass safe for me to use?

Almost certainly it is. Wheat allergies are usually due to the gluten found in the wheat seed. Wheatgrass is essentially a vegetable and is cut and processed before the wheat seed begins to form. Dr Wheatgrass Supershots contain no gluten.

Please note: If you are concerned about wheat allergies, we recommend you consult your doctor/allergist or nutritional consultant before adding anything new to your diet, including Dr Wheatgrass Supershots.

Is Dr.Wheatgrass supporting medical research?

Yes. Very much so. Scientists at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute in Melbourne recently discovered that the wheatgrass extract used in Dr Wheatgrass Supershots contains an as yet unidentified biologically active substance that strongly enhances the production of foetal haemoglobin in human clone cells. This could lead to the reduction in blood transfusion requirements in thalassaemic patients, which would be a substantial medical breakthrough. Dr Wheatgrass is proud to be playing a part in this research and to be donating a percentage of sales of our Supershots to this important cause.

Is it safe to take in pregnancy and while breastfeeding?

Yes. Wheatgrass sprouts generate the wheat that is used for making one of our most important staple foods, bread. In other words, it is essentially a food, but instead of the goodness being ‘baked out’, all the essential components remain to help you attain and maintain better health. It is also safe for children and the elderly.

What are the storage requirements?

There is no need to refrigerate Dr Wheatgrass Supershots. They are very stable and will retain their properties for several years at room temperature, but best keep them out of direct sunlight.

What is in Dr.Wheatgrass Supershots?

Dr Wheatgrass Supershots contain a natural, specially formulated antioxidant-rich extract derived from organically grown fresh wheatgrass sprouts. The extract also contains a small amount of flavouring and preservative which is essential to keep it bacteria-free.

Who is Dr.Wheatgrass?

"Dr.Wheatgrass" doesn't actually exist as a person. It is our trademarked brand. However, to all of us, Dr.Wheatgrass is Dr. Chris Reynolds, a general practitioner and the founder of our company.

Dr. Chris developed the wheatgrass extract that forms the main ingredient of our products. He has used the extract successfully in clinical trials and in thousands of patients since 1995. He has re-discovered the therapeutic power of wheatgrass that first came to light in modern times in the 1930's. Leading the resurgence of wheatgrass healing around the world, his life's mission is to make his wheatgrass extract available and affordable worldwide.

Who will benefit from consuming Dr.Wheatgrass Supershots?

That's simple. Everyone! - and animals too.

The benefits will derive from a stronger immune system which helps to ward off illness and disease and in time you can also expect increased energy and stamina, clearer mental focus, fewer colds and better weight control.

Why aren’t Supershots green?

Supershots are made from a highly concentrated extract derived from young wheatgrass sprouts. This extract is a deep brown. Its bioactivity is considerably higher than that of fresh wheatgrass juice, partly because antioxidant levels are three times higher in the extract.

Why do Dr.Wheatgrass Supershots work?

Why does it have such a long shelf life?

Because of the way the extract is produced, stability is maintained throughout the process which leads to a long shelf life of at least two years.

Why does it taste so different to fresh wheatgrass juice?

Many find both the smell and taste of fresh wheatgrass juice unpleasant, and often difficult to drink without feeling nauseous. We have found a way to eliminate the taste and odor but retain bioactivity by adding a mild flavour to the extract so that the wheatgrass itself cannot be detected.
